on this particular afternoon, minoru was truly free in every sense of the word. he didn’t have class on thursdays, he wasn’t due for work until six in the evening, and no one had asked him to rabbit-sit (the boy had a rather embarrassing fondness). emphasis on was, as scepter4 had a tendency to take the important things away from him. things like his time and self-respect.
which is why minoru is currently sitting in the office of the highest ranked police officer in the entire city. if it wasn’t such a childish act, then minoru would have rolled his eyes. what’s the point of conducting a publicity stunt behind closed doors? then again, the orphaned child of scepter4’s two celebrated officers wouldn’t be any cause for good publicity, he supposes.
the boy leaves the cup of tea untouched - he’s not here to pay any courtesy to scepter4. he is here because any opportunity to sit in front of the blue king is a chance that not even the prime minister is regularly privy to. minoru has read plenty of books about the history of clans in public life, but nearly all of them were ill-informed or insufficient in any substantive detail. to have any conversation with a king is an invaluable experience for his knowledge on clans.
best of all, courtesy calls didn’t require minoru to like these people at all.
so that’s what i want out of you, scepter4. minoru thinks. now what do you want out of me?
