[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=style, width:400px; padding: 5px; background-color: #eeeedd; ,bTable] koyama minoru is an untterly unextrodinary student. unlike most teenagers his age, he never really spoke out of turn. neither was he the forgotton boy who sat in the back. his athletic ability is average, and whenever his grades peaked, a trough would bring it to a near-linear constant.
he sits with his usual group of friends, a mixed group of average students who will probably end up being salarymen, salespeople, or the like. when his opinion is called upon, minoru has a rehearsed moderate opinion at the ready. after a while, some stop calling upon his opinion altogether - why bother when it will always be predictable? he interjects at the suitable moments and holds off while someone else commands the attention of their group.
likewise, lunchtime never changes. they gossip about the newest trends in music and technology. he laughs with everyone else and speaks when spoken to. mostly, minoru listens. listens for the abnormalities that occasionally line the world that he thrives in.

perhaps unlike her friends and her classmates, hina doesn't believe in cliques. she also doesn't believe in paying attention in class sometimes. after shoving food down her throat with only a slight bit of coughing, hina stands from spot where she was seated and glances around the courtyard, looking for someone who she knows will have the answers she's looking for. her friends continue to chatter on about fashion trends and the cutest boys in school - they only pay attention in class when the teacher demands their attention.
her eyes stop on a familiar face and doesn't hesitate to walk towards him. she sits down beside him, and goes to poke him in the shoulder to get his attention. his friends all have their attention divided among each other and she assumes that no one really noticed her walk over. "koyama-san, did you get what the teacher assigned for homework?" she asks whens he's gotten his attention.
im so done

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=style, width:400px; padding: 5px; background-color: #eeeedd; ,bTable] minoru doesn't make a scene - he hates that, really. he has the peace that he has been seeking for all these years, and he's not about to throw it away on anyone's account. he waits for a good moment in the current conversation to slip away quietly.
"...you would be able to save a lot of time asking around if you would only pay attention the first time, takahashi-san" he grumbles, but there is no real resentment in his voice. he's not really missing out on anything - that's the beauty of the courtyard's harmony. it is a place that he can return to at any time, like a bookmarked page.
after all, the conversation will always be the same, inane and irrelavant.
he pulls out his pda and brings out his notes. minoru has no doubt that the teacher could have simply mailed them the homework calendar, but who would be paying any attention to his class in that case?
"just the last five pages of the economics packet. sensei wants them completed by next class"
